Open to all first-year, full-time computer science students, SoarCS is committed to creating a diverse and inclusive environment. We highly encourage students from multicultural backgrounds, first-generation students and female students to take advantage of the program.

SoarCS Participant Requirements:

Participants are required to arrive on the UMass Lowell campus at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 6, 2019 and stay through the program’s completion at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, August 9.

The program will run from morning to 4:45 p.m. each day, with breakfast, lunch, and dinner provided.

Participants will be introduced to several computing technologies, create original work using those materials, and be involved in discussions and presentations by UMass Lowell students, faculty, staff, and alumni.

Participants will also attend (and have the opportunity to present at) Red Hat’s DevConf.US conference in Boston on Saturday, August 17.

If selected as a SoarCS participant, I agree to adhere to the requirements stated above and will participate in all of the program activities from August 6, 2019 to August 9, 2019, as well as August 17, 2019 in Boston at Red Hat’s DevConf.US conference.
